Local Bank, Local Decisions

5Star Bank is a strongly capitalized community business bank. We are proud to remain locally owned and operated by Colorado investors, board of directors, and staff. With an entrepreneurial spirit, we provide banking and financial solutions to businesses, their owners, families and employees in the Denver Metro and Colorado Springs markets. Our bank policies, lending, and financial decisions are made right here where we all live and do business.

Our business philosophy
Today’s business owners need a confidante; a resource that is willing to explore new and better ways to serve them and their business. Not just in financial matters, but in business practices and relationships that will add to a company’s competitive advantage and help grow their business. This is who we are…a full-service commercial bank for our business community.

What our clients have to say!

David Brockway has been a rock and a beacon of hope for the Conservatory during this time. 5Star Bank is relational and intentional, and always very emphatic, which is something you might not always think about with bankers. They asked me, “What do you need to keep serving the constituents that you serve? We know this makes an impact in our community.”

With the SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program loan, not only were we able to protect 55 jobs, but we were able to pivot to online classes and lessons and include one-on-one mentor time. This allowed us to continue serving over 1,500 students and families who need joy, and music, and their mentors, during this time. This is what 5Star Bank and PPP was able to do for the Conservatory!

Goldberg Brothers, Inc.

Goldberg Brothers, Inc. is a 122 year old USA manufacturing company based in Denver or Denver metro for those many years. Goldberg has survived two World Wars, the Spanish Flu, the Great Depression, and 911, but this COVID-19 pandemic came out of nowhere.

Without 5Star’s help, I’m not sure Goldberg Brothers survives. As a new customer of 5Star the commitment to us as a partner was exemplary. Ted Mentry personally stayed in touch with me from the beginning, when the PPP was just a congressional concept, through application, and finally and most importantly through closing. As the PPP came available I heard from many of my tenants here at the Reel Factory building, most of them, who had applied for the program through their big banks, were not having the same experience I was having with 5Star Bank and many did not get funded.

One of those tenants, a restaurant and tap house here in my building, was getting the run around for three weeks with one of those larger banks. I mentioned their situation to Ted, he contacted them and within one hour Ted and 5Star had the PPP funds secured for them.

I can’t say enough good things about the partnership that is developed when dealing with 5Star Bank.

We were ready and prepared for the first batch of PPP funding -- all of our documents were in order at the end of March. Unfortunately, our bank was not SBA experienced, and we did not get in on the first round. I was panicked and cold-called nine banks regarding SBA loans.

I left messages that we were a women-owned company and that we were struggling to find the support we needed. A few banks responded back. Do you know how many acknowledged our struggle as a woman-owned business to get a loan? Only one. We were so lucky to have found 5Star Bank.

Ted and the team there worked around the clock and communicated with us throughout the entire process. Their customer service and reassurance along the way made all the difference. With their help, we saved 16 jobs, supporting 37 staff members, partners, and children.

We believe good people and great service keep our community strong and that's what 5Star is all about. We are so grateful for their help!

Our friends at 5Star Bank have been extremely instrumental in our company’s success and “survival.” 5Star Bank has come through for us with financial support and advice when other banks looked the other way. Since our business hinges on catering large events, the Coronavirus has impacted not only our current income, but raised uncertainty regarding the months ahead. Keeping our staff working has been a major concern, as we will need them when restrictions are lifted and our commitments to previously booked events begin again.

Aileen Berrios was the first person to reach out to assist in finding solutions, starting with interest-only payments on current loans, then reaching out to get our application for the PPP loan in the works. Upon approval of our loan, she worked through the signing of documents and helped us navigate the complexities of the government guidelines. We consider our friends at 5Star Bank to be part of our team but most importantly, part of our family. A testament to local banks like 5Star and the relationships that sustain small businesses and support communities.

Rita's Italian Ice

Rita's Italian Ice

We are the owners of Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard of East Colorado Our small business is comprised of 19 employees.  Due to the state-mandated quarantine protocols, we have transitioned to strictly drive thru-services resulting in a 50% loss of revenue and a reduction in payroll. This type of revenue reduction is crippling to a small business and the employees that rely on this business for employment.

Once the government announced financial relief in the form of the CARES ACT, I spoke with my Loan Officer, Ralph Miller, who has been a godsend throughout these uncertain times. Ralph submitted my loan application and we obtained a loan number prior to the funds running out. Ralph communicated with me after hours to advise of the application submittal/approval, because he knew we were worried.

Ralph's responsiveness should be commended. He has forever gained my business as customer. Rita's Franchise has a saying "Our Guests are Our Main Ingredient." I believe Ralph's approach to banking is the same. His customers are his main ingredient. Ralph is a consummate professional, who represents 5Star Bank and delivers the highest degree of customer service and detail.

Thank you Ralph for all you have done for my business and the community!

5Star Bank has gone above and beyond for us. I can’t thank them enough for all the help and work they put in to get our loan processed and approved. Ted and his team were often on the phone late at night and early in the mornings trying to make sure we had everything in order. We appreciated their professionalism, guidance and hard work throughout the process. This is clearly an exceptional organization and team. The loan which was approved has helped us retain ten employees as well as the benefits for all our employees and their families.

This helped us tremendously and we would highly recommend 5Star to anyone.
